Reception on the Occasion of the 64th National Day of Malaysia and the 58th Malaysia Day, 10 September 2021

The Consulate General of Malaysia organised a reception on 10 September 2021 at the Duxton Hotel, Perth in conjunction with the 64th National Day of Malaysia and the 58th Malaysia Day. The event was attended by 200 people and the Consulate General of Malaysia was honoured by the presence of the Honourable Bill Johnston MLA, Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Energy and Corrective Services as the representative of the WA Premier, the Honourable Madam Alanna Clohesy MLC, President of the WA Legislative Council and the Honourable Tjorn Sibma MLC, Shadow Minister for Environment, Defence Industry; Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs as the representative of the State Opposition Leader at the reception. Others who attended include members of the Consular Corp in Western Australia, as well as representatives from various WA government agencies, the business community, academia, think tanks and community leaders.

Malaysia’s Independence Day or ‘Hari Merdeka’ in Malay, is observed on August 31 every year to commemorate the Malayan Declaration of Independence of August 31, 1957. In addition, Malaysia Day is celebrated on the 16th of September each year to commemorate the merging of the State of Sabah and Sarawak into the Federation of Malaya in 1963 to form what is known now as Malaysia.

We were delighted to host the event this year with the leaders and friends in WA.

Thank you for your gracious presence.

To all Malaysians in WA, Happy Independence Day and Happy Malaysia Day 2021!
