AMBASSADORS’ ALLEY, DARIVA

H.E. Ambassador Zakri Jaafar was given the honour to plant a sapling of linden tree at the Ambassadors’ Alley, Dariva on 19 December. The tree planting ceremony was by invitation of Mr Ibrahim Hadzibajric, Mayor of Stari Grad (Old Town) Sarajevo.

The alley was designated in 2003 by the then Mayor of Bentbaša-Dariva to honour the presence of foreign envoys in Bosnia and Herzegovina. More than 185 tree saplings have been planted on the Ambassadors’ Alley since 2003 including by three of the earlier Malaysian Ambassadors to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tan Sri Zakaria Sulong, Dato’ Seri Ramlan Ibrahim and Datuk Anuar Kasman.

Ambassador Zakri Jaafar’s tree is the 186th tree sapling planted. The alley is a designated area for leisurely walk along Miljacka river. The alley is also known for its cycling, rock climbing and fishing activities. The ceremony was also attended by Mr Jusuf Pusinak, President of the Municipality Council of Stari Grad and Mr Sanel Dragolovcanin, the Deputy Mayor.
