THE MALAYSIAN TECHNICAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME (MTCP) RECEIVES THE UNITED NATIONS MALAYSIA AWARD 2013
In conjunction with the celebrations of the United Nations Day 2013, the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia has been awarded one of the eight United Nations Malaysia Awards 2013 for this year’s theme “Millenium Development Goal (MDG) Eight: Develop a Global Partnership for Development”. The award honours individuals and organizations that are seen upholding the ideals of the United Nations in an exemplary manner.
Malaysia, through the MTCP, is honoured to be receiving the United Nations’ recognition for its contribution and efforts towards assisting other developing countries in achieving their MDG. Since its establishment in 1980, the MTCP has shared Malaysia’s development experience and know how with other developing countries under the South-South Cooperation. MTCP, under the stewardship of the Ministry of Foreign in 2010, is now focus to streamline the assistance to developing countries with a clear direction based on Malaysia’s areas of expertise. Malaysia’s assistance focuses on key areas namely diplomacy, management and public administration, science, technology and ICT management, environment and professional services, public administration, good governance, health services, education, sustainable development, agriculture, poverty alleviation, investment promotion, and banking.
Malaysia, through the MTCP, will continue to offer relevant capacity-building programme to other developing countries in a collaborative effort towards assisting their respective nation building programmes.
