History
The diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Switzerland was established in 1963. Despite warm and cordial bilateral relations between the two countries, the Embassy of Malaysia in Berne, Switzerland had to be closed on 13 October 1993 due to the global economic crisis that hit the world in early 1990s. Subsequently, the Cabinet in its decision on 9 July 2002, decided on the re-establishment of the Malaysian Embassy in Berne. The Embassy was then re-established on 13 April 2003 and remains operational until today.
