MALAYSIA’S PARTICIPATION IN

UN NATIONAL DRESS DAY AND MULTICULTURAL PARTY

 

 

On 27 February 2025, Malaysia participated in the UN National Dress Day and Multicultural Party which took place at the Palais des Nations, on the margins of the 58th Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC58). The event was well attended by over 600 guests, mostly delegates participating in HRC58.

 

2.       The event brought together delegates from various countries, showcasing the rich tapestry of global cultures through traditional attires, cuisine, dance and music. In the spirit of the event, Malaysian delegates wore their national dresses of Baju Melayu and Baju Kurung throughout all meetings of the day and the party that followed in the evening.

 

3.       Malaysia was among the 30 countries that jointly hosted the party reception by opening food booths to showcase their traditional cuisine. The party reception provided an opportunity for delegates and guests to sample a variety of dishes form different cultures. This year, Malaysia featured Satay Ayam, Satay Daging, Sago Gula Melaka, Karipap and Teh Tarik.

 

4.       The event is consistently participated by Malaysia every year. The main purpose of the celebration is to provide a platform for countries to present their cultural heritage and foster mutual understanding and appreciation among nations. Beyond its festive nature, the event provides significant opportunities for countries to promote soft diplomacy within international Geneva.
