UPDATE: ADVISORY TO MALAYSIANS IN CHINA ON DEVELOPMENTS CONCERNING CORONAVIRUS (AS OF 13 MARCH 2020)
EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
BEIJING
To all Malaysians in China,
UPDATE: DEVELOPMENTS CONCERNING THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK IN CHINA
(AS OF 13 MARCH 2020)
The Embassy of Malaysia and Consulates-General in the People’s Republic of China are continuing to prioritise consular support for Malaysian nationals in relation to COVID-19 cases in Wuhan and elsewhere in China.
Several airlines have suspended or reduced their services to and from China. In the case of airlines from Malaysia, this was done based on commercial considerations. Other ongoing prevention and control measures may include regulations for travel in and out of certain cities and provinces. The Embassy encourages all Malaysians in China to take into account these and other possible disruptions to transportation when making travel arrangements.
All Malaysians in the People’s Republic of China should provide the Embassy or nearest Consulate-General with contact details of persons to be notified in case of an emergency, if they have not done so already. This can be done through the following link: https://is.gd/MyCn2020 . The Embassy and Consulates-General are on 24-hour standby for Malaysians who are in urgent need of consular assistance.
The Embassy reiterates its advice to all Malaysians in China to remain calm and update themselves on the situation, via the local media as well as the websites of the Ministry of Health of Malaysia (http://www.moh.gov.my/), the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China (http://en.nhc.gov.cn/), and the World Health Organisation (https://www.who.int/). Malaysians residing in China should continue to take precautionary measures, including those mentioned in the Embassy’s previous advisories.
All Malaysians in China should comply with relevant local health screening regulations, and Malaysians outside of China should avoid non-essential travel to China. All travellers between Malaysia and China must comply with the health screening and immigration requirements of both countries.
Regular consular services may be affected due to ongoing prevention and control measures taken by local authorities. The Embassy reminds all Malaysians abroad or planning to travel overseas to register themselves via the e-Konsular service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my/.
Malaysian nationals in China can continue to contact the Embassy in Beijing or the nearest Malaysian Consulates-General in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, Nanning, Xi’an and Hong Kong via email, mobile or WeChat:
