ASEAN Luncheon hosted by CG in honour of the Hon. Edward Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development
Monday, 25 October 2021 - In keeping up with the strong momentum of ASEAN-Hong Kong relations, Consul-General of Malaysia, Yap Wei Sin hosted a lunch in honour of the Hon. Edward Yau Tang-wah, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong SAR Government, attended by the ASEAN Consuls-General in Hong Kong. The Hon. Secretary and ASEAN Heads of Mission had fruitful discussions on a broad range of issues of mutual interest including the Hon. Chief Executive’s recent Policy Address, GBA opportunities, the pandemic situation, ASEAN-Hong Kong economic ties, as well as current local and regional developments.
In 2017, Hong Kong and ASEAN signed a Free Trade Agreement and an Investment Agreement. This contributed to, in 2020, Hong Kong being ASEAN's 6th largest merchandise trading partner, and ASEAN being Hong Kong's 2nd largest trading partner, after Mainland China
