History
The Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning , Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China was established on 19 June 2015. Mr. Bong Yik Jui is the first Consul General of Malaysia, with the consular districts of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guizhou Province.

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning is the 5th Consulate General of Malaysia in China after Malaysia opened its Consulates General in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (1971), Guangzhou (1994), Shanghai (1999) and Kunming (2004). The Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning is also the 6th diplomatic mission in Nanning City, after the Consulate Generals of Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia , Laos and Myanmar.
In October 2013, Prime Minister Malaysia Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak and Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed the proposals for China to established a Consulate General in Sabah, and in Penang and for Malaysia to open a Consulate General in Guangxi. With restless efforts from both Governments, China has opened the new Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in February 2015; whilst Malaysia opened the Consulate General in Nanning in June 2015. Subsequently China opened Consulate General in Penang on 22 December 2015. On 17 October 2016, Malaysia opened its 6th Consulate General in Xian, Shan Xi Province.

On the visa application matters, as of January 2017, visa application of chinese nationality to Malaysia could be applied online or through the nearer Consulate General of Malaysia i.e Guangzhou and Kunming
