ADVISORY FOR TRAVELLERS TO MALAYSIA - UPDATED 24 JULY 2020, 2000 HRS

CONSULATE GENERAL OF MALAYSIA

NANNING, CHINA

ADVISORY FOR TRAVELLERS TO MALAYSIA

(UPDATED 24 JULY 2020, 2000 HRS)

In an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, effective from 24 July 2020, the Government of Malaysia has decided that any person entering Malaysia from abroad will be subjected to a compulsory 14-days quarantine at any of the Quarantine Stations designated by the Government of Malaysia, in line with the provisions of Section 15 (1) Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

  1. The locations of the quarantine stations will be determined by the relevant Malaysian authorities upon arrival at the Malaysian international point of entry. Returning travellers will not be allowed to choose the quarantine center.

  1. Any person entering Malaysia through the International Entry Point (PMA) will bear the full quarantine costs as follows:

Category of Travellers

Payment (per person, per day)

Malaysian Citizens

a maximum rate of RM150

Non-Malaysian Citizens

(Including dependents to Malaysians)

RM150

Persons with Disabilities Cards issued by the Malaysian Department of Social Welfare

the quarantine costs will be fully borne by the Government of Malaysia

 Notes:

  • Travellers are required to pay a deposit or make full payment during check-in at the quarantine stations. The usage of credit card is encouraged for payment.

  1. Effective from 24 July 2020, all travellers who are planning to enter Malaysia must complete a Letter of Undertaking (LoU) and email to the Consulate General at mwnanning@kln.gov.my at least three (3) days before departure date, for certification. The Consulate will then issue a Travel Notice to the travelers via email. The LoU must be submitted to the relevant Malaysian authorities upon arrival at the Malaysian international point of entry. The following documents are required to be submitted to the Consulate with LoU:
    1. Front page copy of passport (personal details);
    2. Copy of Malaysian Identity Card (for Malaysians); and
    3. Copy of Flight Itinerary.

  1. For non-Malaysian citizens, failure to submit the Travel Notice during check-in at the airport will be denied from boarding the aircraft. For Malaysian citizens, failure to submit the Travel Notice should not result in the denial to board the aircraft. Instead, failure by Malaysian citizens to submit the document will complicate and delay the admission and quarantine processes. Furthermore, Malaysian citizens remain subjected to all regulations enforced, and may face legal consequences upon arrival in Malaysia.
  1. Incoming passengers/travellers are not subjected to a compulsory COVID-19 test three (3) days prior departure to Malaysia.  However, passengers/travellers may need to check with the respective airlines whether a COVID-19 test is required by the airlines before being allowed to board.

  1. All travellers are required to undergo COVID-19 screening test upon arrival at the Malaysian international point of entry. The costs for the test will be borne by the travellers, as determined by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH). For further inquiries on Covid-19 test or MOH procedures at the Malaysian International Point of Entry, kindly contact the Crisis Preparedness and Response Center (CPRC) via e-mail at cprc@moh.gov.my or hotline number at +603-88810200/600/700.
