Consul General Promotes Malaysia’s Premium Fruits During a Promotion Campaign of ASEAN Fruits in Nanning

On 18 June 2025, the Consul General Mr. Ahmad Phadil Ismail participated in the launching ceremony of the ASEAN Fruits Gather in Guangxi: Making RCEP Products Purchases Easier and More Enjoyable” Event at China-ASEAN Mercantile Exchange.

Co-hosted by Guangxi Department of Commerce, Guangxi Department of Culture and Tourism, Guangxi Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning and other ASEAN missions in Nanning and Guangzhou, the event aimed at building a special supply chain, that is to “produce in ASEAN, distribute from Guangxi and sell across China”, to promote premium local and ASEAN fruits through leveraging Guangxi’s advantages as the top fruit producer in China and the country’s major hub for the importation of fruits from ASEAN.    

A promotion video on Malaysia’s fruits recorded by the Consul General before the launching was played during the event. In the video, the Consul General highlighted the premium fruits and agricultural products in Malaysia. He specially took the opportunity to promote Malaysian durian through sharing its wide-range of varieties, unique taste and rich nutrition.     

The event also features eye-catching booths showcasing a variety of fragrant fruits and premium agricultural products from ASEAN Countries, such as Malaysia’s bird’s nest and different varieties of fresh durian, namely Musang King, Red Prawn and Black Thorn.    

The ceremony was graced by H.E. Chen Gang, Secretary of CPC Guangxi Committee, diplomats from missions in Nanning, Guangzhou and Beijing, while H.E. Sheng Qiuping, Deputy Minister of Commerce, China also supported the event via a video speech. Prior to the opening ceremony, the ASEAN delegation had a courtesy meeting with H.E. Chen Gang, Secretary of CPC Guangxi Committee where both sides discussed on ways to promote further on cooperation between Guangxi and ASEAN.
