The Consulate General, agencies, Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MayCham) Shanghai and over 600 Malaysians and Chinese guests from Consulates General of ASEAN Member States, government officials and members of the business community together celebrated the 68th Malaysia's National Day on 30 August at Kerry Hotel Pudong.

 

During the gala dinner, the Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Mohd Shahafeez Shaharis delivered a speech, emphasizing the importance of unity and loyalty to the King and country to ensure the continued guidance of the Merdeka spirit for the nation. He noted the particular significance of this year's celebration, as it coincides with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship. Under the theme of ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’, ASEAN achieved a notable milestone with the adoption of the ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future.

 

Mr. Shahafeez also highlighted the enduring and strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and China, built on mutual respect and trust. This is evident through active high-level exchanges, robust trade and investment activities, and vibrant people-to-people exchanges.

 

He also extended congratulations to MayCham Shanghai for its 20th anniversary this year.
