MALAYSIA-CHINA TECHNOLOGY COOPERATION FORUM
On 13 September 2025, the Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Mohd Shahafeez Shaharis attended the Malaysia-China Technology Cooperation Forum, which was organized by the Malaysian in JiangZhe Association (MJZ) and Future Semiconductor.
The forum aimed to provide insights on Malaysia’s investment outlook and prospects for international collaboration. Built upon the success of the first semiconductor technology innovation forum which was inaugurated last year, the focus this time has expanded beyond the semiconductor sector to include technology in general, such as AI applications, the integration of AI and semiconductors, as well as integrated circuit design, among others.
In his remarks, Mr. Shahafeez underscored the close relationship between Malaysia and China, evidenced through strong trade and investment activities for 16 consecutive years, as well as an exchange of 31 agreements of cooperation during President Xi Jinping's visit to Malaysia in April.
He also highlighted Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship, which witnessed the inaugural hosting of ASEAN-GCC-China Summit that is envisaged to diversify economic partnerships and strengthen regional economic resilience and competitiveness.
He further reaffirmed Malaysia's dedication to attract sustainable investments that yield positive effects on its economy, guided by robust policies such as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030.
