WAIC’S HIGH-LEVEL MEETING ON GLOBAL AI GOVERNANCE
On 26 July 2025, the Minister of Digital of Malaysia, YB Gobind Singh Deo attended and delivered remarks at the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) at Shanghai World Expo Center.
He reaffirmed Malaysia’s support for the Global AI Governance Action Plan, which is vital in bridging digital divides and ensuring emerging technologies like AI are developed and governed for the collective good of humanity. As ASEAN Chair 2025, Malaysia is proud to spearhead the ASEAN AI Safety Network to promote the responsible use of AI and regional cooperation. Malaysia will also host the ASEAN-AI Malaysia Summit in August and Smart Cities World Expo Kuala Lumpur in September this year to serve as platforms for policymakers, industry players and academia to drive the global digital agenda forward.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Science and Technology of China, H.E. Yin Hejun. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, H.E. Ma Zhaoxu and Mayor of Shanghai, H.E. Gong Zheng were also in attendance.
