69th MALAYSIA NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION

On 29 August 2026, the Consulate General, Malaysian agencies, MayCham Shanghai, the Malaysian community and friends of Malaysia gathered at Shangri-La Qiantan for the Merdeka Gala Night.

Consul General, Mr. Abdullah Ma'amor Ibrahim delivered the keynote address, reflecting on 69 years of independence and Malaysia’s growth into a resilient, diversified economy. He highlighted the continued global confidence in Malaysia as a key trade and investment destination.

He also reaffirmed that China remains one of Malaysia’s most important strategic partners. With deepening cooperation in trade, people-to-people ties, and new areas like AI and green technology, he called for stronger Malaysia-China collaboration for shared prosperity and a brighter future.

The Merdeka Gala Night not only strengthened unity among the Malaysian diaspora in Shanghai, but also served as a meaningful platform to deepen Malaysia-China friendship and cooperation.
