Visit to ZTE R&D Centre
Consul General, Mr. Abdullah Maa'mor Ibrahim, together with MATRADE Shanghai and MIDA Shanghai, visited the ZTE R&D Centre on 3 September 2026.
In addition to the briefing, the delegation also visited the ZTE Infinity Lab to view the company’s latest innovations.
ZTE is a Chinese tech giant pivoting from telecom equipment to AI computing. With approximately 62,000 employees and 2025 revenue of RMB133.9 billion, its "computing" business surged by 150% in 2025. The company is now prioritizing AI infrastructure, servers and 6G R&D, while expanding internationally and restructuring for greater agility.
ZTE collaborates extensively in Malaysia on 5G core networks, rural connectivity, AI-enhanced 5G, digital utilities, financing and talent development. These partnerships support Malaysia’s national digital agenda, spanning connectivity, AI, infrastructure modernization and workforce upskilling.
