ENTRY PERMISSION FOR SPOUSE AND CHILD OF MALAYSIAN CITIZENS WHO DO NOT HAVE LONG TERM VISIT PASSES

ENTRY PERMISSION FOR SPOUSE AND CHILD OF MALAYSIAN CITIZENS WHO DO NOT HAVE LONG TERM VISIT PASSES

 

The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) announced that spouses and children of Malaysian citizens who do not have Long-Term Visit Passes can apply for permission to enter Malaysia.

 

This measure is in line with the government’s decision announced by the Senior Defence Minister on 25 August 2020. However, they are required to apply directly for the Long-Term Visit Pass after completion of the mandatory quarantine process as prescribed by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).

 

Applicants must submit his/her application through the email gforce@imi.gov.my and this application will be processed and brought to the meeting of the Task Force on Entry of Foreign Nationals to Malaysia for evaluation before entry permission is granted.

 

Applicants who are allowed to enter Malaysia under this category are as follows:

  1. Wife of the Malaysian citizen/ Permanent Resident;
  2. Husband of the Malaysian citizen/ Permanent Resident; and
  3. Child of the Malaysian citizen/ Permanent Resident.

 

Husbands and wives of Malaysian citizens who are foreign nationals, must be legally married in accordance with the laws in Malaysia and register their marriages with the following Authorities:

  1. Registered with the National Registration Department (JPN);
  2. Registered with the State Islamic Religious Department/ State Islamic Religious Council; and
  3. Registered with the Malaysian Embassy/ High Commission abroad.

 

However, only applicants from countries that are allowed to enter will be processed and considered for entry approval. For countries subject to entry restrictions, applications for entry will not be considered until there is a new decision to lift the entry restrictions for those countries.

 

The public can access the website www.imi.gov.my for procedures and guidelines on the application of entry for this category before submitting a complete application to gforce@imi.gov.my.

 

JIM advises all foreign visitors and Malaysian citizens to always comply with current instructions and regulations and to be aware of the latest announcements from the government agencies regarding the COVID-19 preventive measures. Strict legal action will be taken against those who disobey and fail to comply with the established Standard Operation Procedure (SOP).
