A Taste of Malaysia – Food Promotion Event held at Ritz-Carlton Berlin , 15—17 July 2017

   From 13 – 15 July 2017, an event to promote Malaysian culture was held in collaboration with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Berlin. Malaysian star Chef Dr. Shahrim Karim was the guest of the hotel at Potsdamer Platz and brought the aromatic authentic cuisine of his home country to the German capital so that for three days, gourmets were able to experience “A Taste of Malaysia”.

 

   Dr. Shahrim Karim is one of the most famous chefs in South East Asia. For years, he has been committed to preserving the culinary heritage of his home country and wrote his PhD thesis about the importance of culinary tourism for holiday destinations. Dr. Shahrim Karim was a guest in numerous TV shows, for example Master Chef and has published several cook books. Currently, he teaches as a lecturer at the University Putra Malaysia and, in that capacity, has published more than 30 scientific papers about the importance of food as cultural heritage.

   

   The culinary journey to Malaysia was officially opened by H.E. Dato’ Zulkifli Adnan, Ambassador of Malaysia in Berlin at the Ritz Carlton, Berlin, on Thursday, 13 July 2017 and began with the business lunch at 1130 hrs.

 On Friday evening, a barbecue of Malaysian delicacies was held on the terrace of the Ritz-Carlton. The finale of the Malaysia’s culinary guest appearance took place on Saturday, 15 July with a street food market offering typical dishes and specialties of the traditional South East Asian food stalls.


The three events were well visited and met with a great response.
