Berlin ASEAN Committee Meets the Secretary of State
As part of programme of work under Myanmar’s Chairmanship of the Berlin ASEAN Committee (BAC), the Committee met H.E. Dr. Markus Ederer, Secretary of State at the Federal Foreign Office, in an effort to deepen engagement with local stakeholders. Representing the Embassy at the meeting was Mdm. Rus Shazila Osman, Deputy Head of Mission. Held at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam on 9 December 2016, the meeting was mainly held to exchange views and keep one another updated on latest developments in respective regions. Amongst issues discussed include the developments in the South China Sea, ASEAN-EU relations and Germany’s newly-acquired ASEAN’s development partner status. Both sides also briefly discussed possible cooperative activities between BAC and the Foreign Office that could be undertaken in the future.
