Embassy of Malaysia Welcomed the Malaysian Delegation to ITB 2017

 

Internationale Tourismus Börse of ITB is the world’s biggest travel trade fair held annually in Berlin. The week-long fair received approximately 160,000 visitors from some 180 countries around the world, including Malaysia, and generated sales worth up to €7 billion.

 

To kick-off Malaysia’s agenda in ITB 2017, a briefing session for the Malaysian delegation was held at the Embassy on 7 March 2017. Most of Malaysia’s 120-man delegation, comprising representatives from Tourism Malaysia, officials from Malaysian state and local governments as well as tour operators attended the session. Notable presences at the session include the Chairman of Tourism Malaysia Datuk Siew Ka Wei, Director General of Tourism Malaysia Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, and a number of state executive committee members.     

 

 

The session was opened by opening address by H.E. Ambassador and Chairman of Tourism Malaysia. Thereafter, Mr. Wan Zawawi Mohammed, Senior Director of Tourism Malaysia, delivered the main briefing, which touched on current tourism industry trends in the world, Europe and Malaysia. A follow-up presentation was delivered by representative from Transorient Touristik GmbH, a German tour company operating in Malaysia, who among others touched on German tourist sentiments on Malaysia.
