Malaysia at the Landesgartenschau Oranienburg 2009

The Embassy of Malaysia with the cooperation of Federal Agricultural Marketing Agency (FAMA) participated at the Landesgartenschau Oranienburg 2009 during the “Exotic Fruits” theme week from 7 July to 12 July 2009 at the exotic fruit market in the harbour area of the Landesgartenschau Oranienburg. The visitors were invited to discover Malaysia’s Best”, tropical fruit from Malaysia, some of which are little known in Germany, such as nangka or jackfruit. Other fruits on display were seedless watermelon, dragon fruit, mangosteen, papaya, durian, rambutan, mangoes and guava which were for the visitors to sample.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Several varieties of BOH tea from the Malaysian highlands and Malaysian handicraft are up for sale. Visitors can also find out more about Malaysia and its sunny beaches, unique islands, its diverse flora and fauna and oldest rainforest of the world at our tourist information stand. For those who are interested to visit Malaysia, Transorient Touristik GmbH were present to assist.

 

A special opening was held on 7 July 2009, which was officiated by H.E. Datuk Zakaria Sulong, Ambassador of Malaysia. During the opening, visitors were treated to a special cultural performance of Orang Ulu traditional dance, kompang and Pencak Silat.

 

On 11 and 12 July, the PERWAKILAN ladies (the Women’s Association of the  Embassy of Malaysia) put up a cooking demonstration of traditional Malaysian cuisine such as Nasi Goreng, Mee Hoon Goreng, Kuih Ketayap and Bingka Jagung. The cooking shows were proved to be a hit among the visitors.
