The 36th Berlin Fairy Tale Days

On 13 November 2025, the Embassy of Malaysia in Berlin, in collaboration with PERWAKILAN Berlin hosted a storytelling session featuring “Lagenda Sang Kancil” in conjunction with its participation in the 36th Berlin Fairy Tale Days. A total of 21 students from Ulmen Primary School attended the session, accompanied by their teachers, an accompanying parent and a representative from the organiser.
In addition to hearing one of Malaysia's most well known folk-tales, the children were introduced to Malaysia where they showed great interest in its culture, people, and traditions. The children also had the opportunity to do batik paintings, and were served with Malaysia’s traditional delicacies such as mee goreng, popia and kuih bijan. This session forms part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to promote Malaysia as a destination ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.
The Berlin Fairy Tale Days is the largest fairy-tale festival in the world, featuring around 800 events at 350 locations each November. The festival is organised by MÄRCHENLAND – Deutsches Zentrum für Märchenkultur, Germany’s national centre for fairy-tale and storytelling culture, founded to promote creativity, reading competence, and intercultural understanding through stories. Held from 6 to 23 November 2025, this year’s theme is “Fairy Tales and Stories about Obstacles and True Strength”.
The Embassy of Malaysia had participated in several editions of the festival in the past and remains committed to sharing Malaysian culture with young audiences in Berlin. The Embassy extends its appreciation to MÄRCHENLAND, the teachers, and the students of Ulmen Primary School for their warm participation in this meaningful cultural exchange.
