The ALL NATIONS FESTIVAL 2009 in Berlin

On 4 July 2008, the ALL NATIONS FESTIVAL was held for the ninth time in Berlin and it offered the opportunity for 24 participating Embassies not only to show their premises, but to also present their culture, economy and tourism potentials.

The Embassy of Malaysia participated for the eighth year in a row in the ALL NATIONS FESTIVAL and was proud to present a colourful programme to more than 2,500 visitors on that day.

The Embassy once again had a very special programme in store for its visitors. An art exhibition presented works of Malaysian artists Chef de Mulu from Sarawak and Zubin Zainal, a resident of Berlin. Traditional handicrafts were also on display with some of it up for sale.

In line with the overall theme “With Hat and Hair”, different types of Malaysian headgear of the main ethnic groups in Malaysia were put on display.

Furthermore, the visitors could sample traditional Malaysian foods like mee goreng, cokodok pisang, kuih batik and teh tarik prepared by PERWAKILAN, the Embassy’s Women Association at a reasonable price. Visitors were also invited to taste our own Malaysian “BOH” tea on offer by Salacca.

Visitors were be able to witness a traditional Malay wedding ceremony which was performed three times a day, starting at 1200 hours in the atrium of the Malaysian Embassy. Various cultural performances such as ‘kompang”, the martial arts form “silat”, ‘joget tudung saji” and “joget lambak” were performed throughout the day.

A special tourist information booth with various tourism promotional materials and videos enabled visitors to get more information about Malaysia. For those who are interested to visit Malaysia, Transorient Touristik GmbH was present to assist with the arrangements. The Embassy had also prepared a travel quiz for visitors with the main prize a free hotel stay for two in Kuala Lumpur or on the island of Langkawi.
