H.E. Ambassador Haznah Md Hashim joined fellow Asia-Pacific Ambassadors at Casa Asia Barcelona this morning for a briefing by H.E. José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, on Spain’s new Asia-Pacific Strategy 2026–2029.
The briefing outlined Spain’s renewed focus on strengthening engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through enhanced political dialogue, economic cooperation, trade and investment linkages, multilateralism, as well as stronger people-to-people connectivity.
The strategy also reflects the growing importance of Asia-Pacific as a key driver of global growth and strategic relevance for EU, including Spain.
For Malaysia, the initiative presents opportunities to further deepen Malaysia–Spain cooperation, including in trade and investment, tourism, innovation, and emerging sectors including AI and semiconductors, while also reinforcing broader ASEAN–EU engagement.
