BRIEFING ON THE ASEAN POWER GRID (APG)
H.E. Haznah Md Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to Spain, participated in an online briefing this morning with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia (Wisma Putra) and the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Maalaysia (PETRA) on Malaysia’s strategic leadership within the ASEAN Power Grid (APG).
As the geographical and technical pivot of the region, Malaysia has evolved into the indispensable heartbeat of the ASEAN Power Grid. No longer merely a participant, Malaysia is now the central orchestrator and lead regional energy exchange, transforming the vision of an integrated, low-carbon Southeast Asia into a high-voltage reality.
Through the successful expansion of the Lao PDR-Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Power Integration Project (LTMS-PIP) Phase 2 and the pioneering Energy Exchange Malaysia (ENEGEM), Malaysia serves as the vital hub linking the Mekong sub-region to maritime Southeast Asia. By facilitating the first multilateral power trades in the region, we are driving the energy diplomacy that powers our shared sustainable future.
