MEETING WITH DEPUTY DIRECTOR-GENERAL FOR ASIA PACIFIC, MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, SPAIN
H.E. Ambassador Haznah Md Hashim held a meeting this morning with Ms. Laura Mayoral, Deputy Director-General for Asia Pacific at Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEC), as part of ongoing efforts to further strengthen Malaysia–Spain bilateral relations.
The discussion focused on advancing cooperation through the exchange of high-level visits and the continuation of political consultations. Central to the dialogue was the expansion of economic ties, specifically in boosting bilateral trade and high-impact investments. Both sides highlighted the strategic importance of semiconductor collaboration, aiming to leverage Malaysia’s robust ecosystem and Spain’s growing technological capabilities to enhance global supply chain resilience.
Furthermore, both sides exchanged views on expanding collaboration in counter-terrorism, cyber security, and other sectoral partnerships. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore avenues for addressing regional challenges while promoting greater institutional exchanges.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close cooperation and strengthening the multifaceted engagement between Malaysia and Spain in the period ahead.
