MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE SPANISH ASSOCIATION OF SEMICONDUCTOR INDUSTRY (AESEMI)
PYT Ambassador Haznah Md Hashim met with Mr. Carlos Pardo, President of the Spanish Association of Semiconductor Industry (AESEMI), together with Mr. Alfonso Gabarrón González, General Manager of AESEMI, in Madrid. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on developments in the global semiconductor ecosystem and explore potential avenues to strengthen Malaysia–Spain engagement in this strategic sector.
During the discussion, Malaysia highlighted the importance of the semiconductor industry to its economy, with electrical and electronics (E&E) products accounting for around 40% of the country’s total exports. Malaysia also plays a key role in the global semiconductor supply chain, particularly in the assembly, testing and packaging (ATP) segment, with approximately 13% of global semiconductor testing and packaging activities conducted in the country. Both sides also exchanged perspectives on developments in the semiconductor industry in Europe and Asia, including Spain’s efforts to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem and enhance technological capabilities.
The engagement reflects the Embassy of Malaysia in Madrid’s continued efforts to strengthen Malaysia–Spain cooperation in strategic technology sectors and to highlight Malaysia’s role as a reliable partner in the global semiconductor value chain.
