MALAYSIA AND SPAIN TO STRENGTHEN ECONOMIC AND TRADE COOPERATION

H.E. Haznah Md Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to Spain, held a productive meeting with Mr. Juan Luis Gimeno Chocarro, Director General for International Trade and Investments at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business of Spain, to discuss ways to further strengthen Malaysia–Spain trade and investment cooperation. The discussions focused on enhancing existing bilateral economic cooperation and exploring new strategic areas, including semiconductors, renewable energy, halal cooperation and infrastructure development. Both sides also exchanged views on expanding economic engagement under the existing Malaysia–Spain Economic Cooperation MoU, the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) framework, and the ongoing negotiation of the Malaysia–EU Free Trade Agreement (MEUFTA). The meeting reflected the strong commitment of both Malaysia and Spain to deepen economic collaboration and unlock new opportunities for mutually beneficial trade and investment partnerships.
