On 18 May 2026, Her Excellency Haznah Md. Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Spain, attended a high-level event marking the 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 2286, focused on the protection of medical missions in conflict zones. Protecting civilian infrastructure, medical personnel, and patients remains a core pillar of Malaysia’s steadfast foreign policy and unwavering advocacy for International Humanitarian Law (IHL). The event highlights the deep alignment between Malaysia and Spain on global humanitarian diplomacy. This shared commitment is vividly demonstrated on the ground in Lebanon, where both nations serve as key troop-contributing countries under UNIFIL. Working under severe regional challenges, the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) and Spanish forces continue to jointly advocate for the safety of peacekeepers and the absolute upholding of international legal frameworks. Malaysia remains dedicated to working alongside international partners to advance global accountability and safeguard humanitarian access worldwide.
