OFFICIAL VISIT OF YAB TUN DR. MAHATHIR MOHAMAD

PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA TO REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

28 – 29 JUNE 2018

  

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia will be undertaking an Official Visit to Indonesia from 28 to 29 June 2018. This would be his first bilateral visit to Southeast Asian countries after assuming the position as the Prime Minister for the second time on 10 May 2018. YAB Prime Minister will be accompanied by YABhg. Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

During the visit, YAB Prime Minister will be meeting His Excellency Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia and to be followed by a Luncheon hosted by HE President. He is also scheduled to have a session with Malaysian community in Jakarta.

 

The visit will provide a platform for the two Leaders to further strengthen the bilateral relations and cooperation of both countries. It would also allow Malaysia to highlight the government’s latest policies and it’s stand particularly on issues of mutual benefits. Furthermore, both Leaders would have the opportunity to exchange views on regional and global issues that are of common interest to both countries.

 

Indonesia is one of Malaysia’s close friends and important neighbours. In 2017, total bilateral trade was recorded at RM72.63 billion (USD16.89), an increase of 22 % in comparison with 2016, making it Malaysia’s 7th largest trading partner globally and 3rd largest trading partner among ASEAN member countries after Singapore and Thailand.
