On 5 July 2019, H.E. Dato’ Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, Ambassador of Malaysia to France, witnessed the signing of an agreement between Mr. Laurent Champaney, President of Arts et Métiers ParisTech and Prof. Dr. M Ibrahim Abd Mutalib, Vice Chancellor and CEO of Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP).


Also in attendance were Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Shahir Liew, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation (UTP); Associate Prof. Dr. Naufal Saad, Director of International Relations (UTP); Ms. Amaëlle Mayer, Chief of Cabinet (Arts et Métiers ParisTech) and Ms. Farisha Salman, Counsellor of the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris.


The objective of the MoU is for both universities to set out an action plan in order to collaborate within the framework of the industry of the future initiatives between France and Malaysia.


The aim is to bring together academics, researchers, industry, start-ups and students in a structured partnership in order to strengthen research, innovation and higher education for industry of the future between two countries.


Established in 1780, Arts et Métiers ParisTech is the oldest engineering school in France. It boasts 12 campuses and is the largest academic partner to Dassault Systemes. The university has strong international partnerships in which it has 150 partner universities all over the world.
