MALAYSIA–GHANA STRENGTHEN STRATEGIC COOPERATION IN INVESTMENT, INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AND CAPACITY BUILDING THROUGH ENGAGEMENT WITH MOTAI
28 January 2026, A discussion was held with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI), involving relevant authorities and agencies, together with representatives from MIDA, JICA, and the High Commission of Malaysia.
The delegation was led by the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim (CDA a.i.) of the High Commission of Malaysia, while the meeting was chaired by Mr. Kofi Addo, Chief Commercial Manager at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry.
Also present were the Deputy CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, and his team, representatives from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Ghana Enterprises Agency, officials from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, as well as participants who had previously taken part in the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP).
The engagement continued with further discussions focusing on strengthening collaboration in investment promotion, industrial development, and capacity building between Malaysia and Ghana.
Deliberations centred on identifying potential areas for cooperation, enhancing institutional linkages, and exploring opportunities for Malaysian participation in Ghana’s priority sectors. Particular emphasis was placed on leveraging the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) as a platform to support skills development, knowledge transfer, and long-term institutional partnerships.
The session reaffirmed the shared commitment of MIDA, JICA, the High Commission of Malaysia, and Ghanaian stakeholders to deepen bilateral cooperation and advance sustainable economic development in Ghana and the wider West African region.
