APPOINTMENT OF NEW HEADS OF MISSION OF MALAYSIA

 

 

Five (5) new Heads of Mission of Malaysia received their Letter of Credence from His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah in a ceremony held at Istana Negara on Tuesday, 7 July 2020. The Ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein. The new Heads of Mission are:-

 

 

Ambassador Dato’ Bala Chandran Tharman

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to the Russian Federation

 

Ambassador Dato’ Bala Chandran Tharman served as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) since 1994. Prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation, Ambassador Dato’ Bala Chandran was the Undersecretary of International Cooperation and Development Division.

 

Dato’ Bala Chandran had served at several Malaysian Missions abroad, namely the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila, Philippines (1998-2002), Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland (2002-2006) and Embassy of Malaysia in Beijing, China (2011-2014). He had also served in the Maritime Division (1994-1995), ASEAN Division (1996-1998), Multilateral Political Division (2006-2007) and Disarmament & Non-Proliferation Division (2007-2011).

 

Dato’ Bala Chandran was appointed as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Lebanon in 2014 and subsequently as the Director General of Policy Planning and Coordination, (2017-2018).


 

Ms. Haznah Md Hashim

High Commissioner-Designate of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh

 

Ms. Haznah Md Hashim served as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at Wisma Putra since 2000. Prior to her appointment as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Ms. Haznah was the Undersecretary of Multilateral Economic & Environment Division.

 

Ms. Haznah had served at the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington D.C., United States of America (2001-2004) and the High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam (2011-2016). She had also served in the Territorial & Maritime Affairs Division (2001-2004 & 2008), Adjudication & Arbitration Division (2007-2008), Research, Treaty & International Law Division (2008-2010) and Administration & Security Division (2010-2011).

 

Ms. Haznah also served as Deputy Director General of Maritime Affairs (2016-2017) and Undersecretary of Communication & Public Diplomacy (2017-2018).

 

 

Mr. Abu Bakar Mamat

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Chile

 

Mr. Abu Bakar Mamat served as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at Wisma Putra since 2000. Prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Chile, Mr. Abu Bakar was the Undersecretary of CLMV & Oceania Division.

 

Mr. Abu Bakar had served at the Embassy of Malaysia in Windhoek, Namibia (2004-2008) and was appointed as the Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Pakistan from 2011 until 2015. He had also served in the Protocol Division (2001-2004), Directorate of Asia, Oceania & North Africa (2007-2008), Foreign Minister’s Office (2008-2009), Public Diplomacy & Information Division (2009) and OIC Division (2009-2011).

 

Mr. Abu Bakar also served as Deputy Director General of ASEAN External Affairs (2015-2016), Deputy Director General of Communication & Public Diplomacy (2016) and Undersecretary of Development Division (2016-2018).

 

 

Mr. Sazali Mustafa Kamal

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Turkey

 

Mr. Sazali Mustafa Kamal served as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Wisma Putra since 2000. Prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Sazali was the Undersecretary of Europe Division.

 

Mr. Sazali had served at the Embassy of Malaysia in Kuwait (2004-2007) and Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York, United States of America (2012-2015). He had also served in the East Asia Division (2001), OIC & Regional Cooperation Division (2001-2004 & 2017-2018), Policy and Strategic Planning Division (2008-2010), Public Diplomacy & Information Division (2012) and Multilateral Political Division (2015-2017).

 

Mr. Sazali was a member of the International Monitoring Team in Mindanao (IMT-MV), Philippines from early 2010 until early 2012. He was also the Principal Private Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs from July 2018 until May 2019.

 

 

Mr. Zamshari Shaharan

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to Qatar

 

Mr. Zamshari Shaharan had served at Wisma Putra since 1996. Prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Qatar, Mr. Zamshari was the Minister / Deputy Head of Mission the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, Indonesia.

 

Mr. Zamshari had served at the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila, Philippines (2002-2005) and Embassy of Malaysia in Paris, France (2011-2014). 

 

He had also served in the Economic Division (1996-1998), ASEAN Division (1998-2002), Finance Division (2005-2006), Development Division (2006-2011) and West Asia Division (2014-2016).
