BUSHFIRES IN AUSTRALIA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs refers to the seven-day state of emergency that has been declared by the authorities of the New South Wales starting on 3 January 2020 following the bushfires affecting many states in Australia, especially the east coast of the country. Apart from the New South Wales, other badly-affected areas include Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
In view of the declaration of the state of emergency, the Ministry wishes to advise Malaysians intending to travel to the affected areas to defer non-essential travel for the time being until the situation improves. The Ministry also wishes to advise Malaysians in the affected areas to give utmost priority to safety and security, and follow instructions by local and regional authorities.
