EARTHQUAKE IN ELAZIG AND MALATYA PROVINCES, REPUBLIC OF TURKEY
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia is monitoring developments following a 6.7 magnitude earthquake in Elazig And Malatya Provinces, Republic of Turkey on 24 January 2020. The epicenter of the earthquake is located at approximately 565 km from Ankara.
According to local authorities, the earthquake has so far claimed 29 lives, and more than 1,200 injured. There has been no report of any Malaysians affected by the earthquake.
The Ministry wishes to convey the sympathies and condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of Turkey, in particular to those who have been affected by the earthquake. We are with the people of Turkey during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of the devastating earthquake.
