MALAYSIA EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO INDONESIA
The Government of Malaysia extends its deepest condolences to the families and to the Government of Indonesia on the loss of lives and injuries of Indonesian peacekeepers of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), as a result of incidents near Adchit Al Qusayr and Bani Hayyan on 29 and 30 March 2026.
Deliberate attacks on UNIFIL Peacekeepers constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
Malaysia calls on all parties to fully uphold their obligations under international law, including the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and other relevant United Nations resolutions, to ensure the protection and safety of United Nations peacekeepers, as well as the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, without compromise. Those responsible must be held accountable.
The military personnel of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) serving in UNIFIL are reportedly safe.
