MALAYSIA MOURNS THE PASSING OF IRANIAN PRESIDENT AND FOREIGN MINISTER

On 19 May 2024, at approximately 1630 local time, it was reported that a helicopter ferrying President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and others made an emergency landing while returning to Tehran in the central Dizmar Forest, located between the villages of Brazin and Ardeshiri in East Azerbaijan province. The President had traveled to East Azerbaijan province earlier in the day to inaugurate the joint Qizqalaasi dam on the Aras border river with the President of Azerbaijan.
