OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE HONOURABLE DATO’ SERI HISHAMMUDDIN TUN HUSSEIN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MALAYSIA TO NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 28 FEBRUARY – 1 MARCH 2021
OFFICIAL VISIT OF
THE HONOURABLE DATO’ SERI HISHAMMUDDIN TUN HUSSEIN
MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MALAYSIA
TO NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
28 FEBRUARY – 1 MARCH 2021
The Honourable Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein will undertake an official visit to Bandar Seri Begawan from 28 February to 1 March 2021. This is the Honourable Foreign Minister’s first official visit to Negara Brunei Darussalam since he assumed office on 10 March 2020. Honourable Foreign Minister will be accompanied by a small delegation comprising officials from Wisma Putra.
The official visit is to honour the invitation extended by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam to Honourable Foreign Minister earlier this year.
During the visit, The Honourable Foreign Minister will have an Audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The Audience will be preceded by a meeting with His Excellency Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan Haji Mohd Yusof, Foreign Minister II of Brunei Darussalam.
The visit will afford the two closest neighbours to take stock of the progress of the on-going bilateral cooperation and further enhance the post COVID-19 cooperation that will benefit the peoples of both countries. This will further strengthen the existing special relations shared between Malaysia and Brunei. Both sides are also expected to discuss issues deliberated at bilateral mechanisms including Malaysia-Brunei Annual Leaders’ Consultation, cooperation in the oil and gas sector, progress relating to Malaysia-Brunei land boundary as well as Brunei’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2021.
The visit will be held in full compliance with the strict COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) put in place by the Government of Brunei and the Government of Malaysia.
