HIS EXCELLENCY DOMINIC RAAB TO MALAYSIA, 11 FEBRUARY 2020

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah will be hosting a maiden visit by the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom (UK), His Excellency Dominic Raab, to Malaysia on 11 February 2020.

HE Raab assumed his current position at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on 24 July 2019.

The two Ministers are scheduled to hold bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Putrajaya. A range of issues will be discussed including efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, ASEAN, BREXIT, as well as other regional and international development.

The UK Foreign Secretary is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on The Honourable Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, and meet with the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC), Honourable Yeo Bee Yin to strengthen cooperation in the field of environment and climate change.

Malaysia and the United Kingdom have a longstanding and multi-faceted partnership. In 2019, trade between Malaysia and UK was valued at RM16.44 billion. The implementation of Brexit will certainly provide new perspectives and dynamics in the relations between the two countries.
