OFFICIAL VISIT THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN, COMMONWEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT AFFAIRS OF THE UNITED KINGDOM

THE RT. HON. ELIZABETH TRUSS TO MALAYSIA

YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs will be receiving the Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Truss, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom (UK) on 8 November 2021 on her inaugural visit to Malaysia.

 

The Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Truss, is scheduled to meet YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Putrajaya. The two ministers will take stock of the progress in the long-standing relations between Malaysia and the UK, and potential areas of collaboration in the post-pandemic era. The discussion is also expected to touch on issues related to regional security, the situation in Myanmar, Commonwealth issues and climate change.

 

The Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Truss is also scheduled to call on The Right Honourable Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to exchange views on bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

 

Malaysia and the United Kingdom are longstanding partners with multi-faceted cooperation, including close people to people links. In 2020, the trade volume between Malaysia and the United Kingdom was recorded at RM16.69 billion, an increase of 1.4% compared to the corresponding period in 2019 (RM16.46 billion).
