OFFICIAL VISIT

BY PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA, H.E. MR. JOKO WIDODO

TO MALAYSIA, 8 – 9 AUGUST 2019

 

 

Malaysia will be hosting an Official Visit by His Excellency Mr. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia on 8 – 9 August 2019. This is the first Official Visit abroad by President Joko Widodo after having been re-elected for the second term in the Presidential Election on 17 April 2019. The President will be accompanied by his spouse, H.E. Madam Iriana Joko Widodo, as well as by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, other Cabinet Ministers and senior officials.

 

The visit is expected to strengthen the existing strong bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia. The Official Welcoming Ceremony will be held in the morning of 9 August 2019 at Perdana Square, Putrajaya. YAB Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and H.E. Mr. Joko Widodo will hold a meeting to discuss bilateral issues and cooperation, as well as exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. YAB Prime Minister and YABhg. Tun Siti Hasmah will host an Official Luncheon in honour of H.E. Mr. Joko Widodo and H.E. Madam Iriana Joko Widodo at Seri Perdana.

 

Indonesia is Malaysia’s 9^th largest trading partner globally and 3^rd largest trading partner among ASEAN member states after Singapore and Thailand. In 2018, total trade between the two countries was recorded at RM72.02 billion (USD17.85 billion), an increase of 7.4% in comparison with RM71.51 billion (USD16.62 billion) in 2017.
