THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, MALAYSIA

ON THE CANCELLATION OF APEC LEADERS' WEEK 2019 IN SANTIAGO, CHILE

 

 

 

The Malaysian Government understands the decision by the Chilean Government to cancel the hosting of APEC Leaders’ Week 2019, in the interest of safety and security of APEC Leaders and delegations.

 

Malaysia takes this opportunity to thank Chile for all its invaluable contributions throughout its host year in 2019 to further the objectives of APEC including in the areas of digital economy, regional connectivity and women's role in economic growth.

 

As Bogor Goals come to their completion, Malaysia looks forward to hosting a substantive APEC in 2020.
