THE DEMISE OF
AMBASSADOR ISMAIL BIN HAJI SALAM,
HIGH COMMISSIONER OF MALAYSIA TO BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is saddened to inform on the passing of His Excellency Ambassador Ismail Bin Haji Salam, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, 52 years old, in Bandar Seri Begawan today on 18 December 2019 at 8:33am local time. He was survived by his wife, Puan Rosita Binti Ismail and two children.
The late Ambassador Ismail bin Haji Salam started his service as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in 1992. Prior to being appointed as High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam in February 2019, he was the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Kenya from May 2012 until June 2017.
The late Ambassador Ismail had also served at several Malaysian Missions abroad, namely at the Embassy of Malaysia in Vienna, Austria; Consulate of Malaysia in Pontianak, Indonesia; and the Embassy of Malaysia in Warsaw, Poland. He was a dedicated and committed officer towards all his assignments throughout his 27 years with the Ministry. All his services and contributions will be remembered as a true legacy of an exemplary diplomat.
The High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the assistance of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the Government of Brunei Darussalam are in the process of bringing the body back to Malaysia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all staff members offer their deepest condolences to the wife and family of the late Ambassador Ismail bin Haji Salam. May Allah place Allahyarham Ambassador Ismail among the souls of the righteous.
