THE OFFICIAL VISIT OF HIS EXCELLENCY WANG YI
STATE COUNCILOR OF THE STATE COUNCIL AND MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA TO MALAYSIA
12 – 13 OCTOBER 2020
Foreign Affairs Minister YB Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein will host People’s Republic of China State Councillor of the State Council and Foreign Affairs Minister, His Excellency Wang Yi during the latter’s official visit to Malaysia from 12 to 13 October 2020.
During the visit, YB Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin and His Excellency Wang Yi will discuss the status of China’s COVID-19 vaccine, enhancing economic cooperation, post-pandemic collaborations and strengthening existing ties and cooperative efforts between the two countries. They are also expected to discuss regional and global issues of common concern.
The visit will be conducted in full compliance with the health and safety measures set by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) approved by the Special Ministerial Meeting on the Movement Control Order on the 1st and 3rd October, and as announced by the Senior Minister, YB Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as follows:
Mandatory swab test to be taken 3 days before arriving at the country’s international airport;
Second swab test to be taken at the airport upon arrival;
Delegates will be escorted from the airport to the hotel, then to the event venue and to the airport again for departure to home countries, following a controlled itinerary; and
Delegates can only fly in via private planes.
His Excellency Wang Yi’s last official visit to Malaysia was in 2018. Apart from strengthening bilateral relations, the meeting of the two Foreign Ministers helps ensure that Malaysia and China are prepared to meet future challenges and continue their robust cooperation against the backdrop of the global pandemic.
