ATTESTATION OF OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS, CERTIFICATES AND COMMERCIAL INVOICES
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia (Wisma Putra) provides attestation services for various types of documents such as Statutory Declaration, Certificate of Origin, Letter of Power of Attorney, Birth Certificate, educational certificates, and commercial invoices that requires authentication by the Consular Division before the submission to various Foreign Missions in Malaysia for endorsement. The purpose of this procedure is to validate the stamp and signatures on the documents, before the document can be used outside the country.
HOW TO GET DOCUMENTS ATTESTED?
The attestation of documents at the Consular Division, Wisma Putra operates on a walk in basis*. The document is to be submitted in person or by representative. The attestation service requires the applicant to present Identification Card/ Passport – Authorization letter, if necessary. Under normal circumstances, documents submitted can be collected on the same day or at the latest, the following working day.

THINGS THAT I SHOULD KNOW.
The attestation of documents issued or approved by Federal and State Government, (this includes the Ministries & Local Governmental Departments) can be verified without second endorsement. However, if the original document/certificate is not presented, the copy of documents/ certificates must be endorsed by issued authorities (Notaries Public) before submission to the Consular Division.
All original or photocopy of Malaysian/local institutions’ certificates/documents must be endorsed/certified with a name print, position and stamp by the Ministry of Education/ Ministry of Higher Education/ Department of Education of Malaysia before submission to the Consular Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
All documents originating from abroad requires authentication from the Foreign Missions in Malaysia (Embassy/ High Commission/ Consulate General/ Consulate) before submission to the Consular Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia for endorsement. Documents which are written in foreign languages, MUST be translated into English Language.
6. Translation Document for Endorsement
(Marriages in Malaysia)- Foreign nationals are required to obtain certification/ authentication by their respective Foreign Missions in Malaysia (Embassy/ High Commission/ Consulate General/ Consulate) pertaining to the Letter of Statement of Marital Status/ Single Status Certificate/ Letter of Permission to Marry before submission to the Consular Division.
