SINGAPORE AND MALAYSIA AGREE ON KEY ASPECTS OF THE RECIPROCAL GREEN LANE AND PERIODIC COMMUTING ARRANGEMENT FOR CROSS-BORDER TRAVEL BETWEEN SINGAPORE AND MALAYSIA

Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein had a meeting at the Causeway on Sunday, 26 July 2020.

The two Ministers had a constructive discussion on the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA), which will facilitate cross-border travel for official, business and work purposes between Singapore and Malaysia.

The two Ministers are pleased to announce that Singapore and Malaysia have agreed on all the key aspects of the RGL and PCA, and look forward to the launch of both schemes. Applications can be submitted from 10 August 2020 onwards. Eligible travellers will have to abide by the mutually agreed terms and prevailing public health measures in both countries.

The operational details of the RGL and PCA, including the detailed requirements, health protocols, and application process involved for entry and exit into Singapore and Malaysia, will be finalised and published shortly.

Both Ministers reaffirmed the importance of Singapore-Malaysia cooperation amidst the COVID-19 situation, and agreed to continue discussions on further schemes to progressively restore cross-border travel for other groups of travellers, while ensuring the public health and safety of the citizens of both countries.
