WORKING VISIT OF HIS EXCELLENCY DR VIVIAN BALAKRISHNAN, MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE TO MALAYSIA 17 – 19 MAY 2022

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Dato’ Sri Saifuddin Abdullah will host the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Dr Vivian Balakrishnan in conjunction with his working visit to Malaysia from 17 to 19 May 2022.

YB Dato’ Sri Saifuddin and His Excellency Dr Vivian Balakrishnan are scheduled to meet and exchange views on broad ranging bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest. During the visit, His Excellency Dr Vivian Balakrishnan is also scheduled to have an audience with the Sultan of Perak, HRH Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah; and meet with Senior Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Hussein; Chairman of National Recovery Council, YB Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Mahiaddin Haji Md Yassin; as well as Menteri Besar of Terengganu, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

The visit by His Excellency Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will provide an excellent opportunity for Malaysia and Singapore to further strengthen the longstanding relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

In 2021, Singapore was Malaysia's 2nd largest trading partner and the largest within ASEAN with total trade amounting to RM267.11 billion (USD64.43 billion), an increase of 25.2 percent, compared to the recorded value in 2020.

WORKING VISIT OF YAB PRIME MINISTER TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO ATTEND THE ASEAN-UNITED STATES SPECIAL SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON D.C., 10-13 MAY 2022

WORKING VISIT OF YAB PRIME MINISTER TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO ATTEND THE ASEAN-UNITED STATES SPECIAL SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON D.C., 10-13 MAY 2022 

 

The Hon. Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob will be undertaking a working visit to Washington D.C., United States of America, to attend the ASEAN-United States Special Summit (AUSS) on 12-13 May 2022.

YAB Prime Minister will lead the Malaysian delegation to the summit, accompanied by YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Senior Minister of International Trade & Industry (MITI), as well as senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of International Trade & Industry.

During the Special Summit, YAB Prime Minister and other ASEAN Leaders are scheduled to participate in a series of meetings and discussions with the President and Vice President of the United States. Other programme prepared by the United States include sessions with the Leadership of the United States Congress and some members of the United States Cabinet and American business leaders.

The Special Summit is held in conjunction with the 45th anniversary of the ASEAN-United States Dialogue Relations. It will serve as a strategic platform for ASEAN and the United States to review and explore pragmatic cooperation to strengthen the existing partnership. The Special Summit is expected to address issues such as regional and international issues of common concern, economic cooperation, COVID-19 and health security, climate change and clean energy, among others.

The ASEAN-United States Special Summit is expected to issue a Joint Vision Statement which would underscore the commitment and aspiration to enhance ASEAN-United States partnership in the interest of enduring peace, stability, security and shared prosperity for all.

While in Washington D.C., YAB Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the Keluarga Malaysia Hari Raya celebration and meet with the Malaysian diaspora.

MALAYSIA STRONGLY CONDEMNS TERRORIST ATTACK IN SINAI, ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT

 

 

Malaysia strongly condemns the terrorist attack on a water lifting facility in Sinai, Arab Republic of Egypt on 7 May 2022 which resulted in at least 11 fatalities. Malaysia hopes that those responsible for this heinous act will be brought to justice.

 

Malaysia extends our deepest condolences and sympathies to the government and people of Egypt, in particular to the bereaved families of the fallen soldiers.

 

Malaysia strongly rejects all forms of terrorism that undermine regional peace and security.

WORKING VISIT OF THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, YB DATO’ KAMARUDIN JAFFAR TO THE UNITED KINGDOM FROM 8 TO 11 MAY 2022

WORKING VISIT OF THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, YB DATO’ KAMARUDIN JAFFAR TO THE UNITED KINGDOM FROM 8 TO 11 MAY 2022 

 

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Dato’ Kamarudin Jaffar, will undertake a working visit to the United Kingdom from 8 to 11 May 2022. The YB Deputy Minister will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, YB Deputy Minister is scheduled to meet the incumbent Secretary General of the Commonwealth, the Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland to exchange views and discuss the way forward to further strengthen Malaysia-Commonwealth cooperation.

The Deputy Minister is also scheduled to receive YAB Prime Minister during the latter’s stopover in London on 10 May 2022, and subsequently accompany YAB Prime Minister to the “Tenun Pahang: Weaving Hope” exhibition at the High Commission of Malaysia, London. This is in conjunction with London Craft Week which will be held from 9 to 15 May 2022.

The Deputy Minister will be accompanying YAB Prime Minister to Sambutan Hari Raya with Keluarga Malaysia in London. This gathering will provide opportunities for YAB Prime Minister to engage with Keluarga Malaysia abroad on the initiatives introduced by the Government.

OPEN-ENDED EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF THE OIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AT THE LEVEL OF PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES TO DISCUSS THE ONGOING ISRAELI AGGRESSION AGAINST THE BLESSED AL-AQSA MOSQUE 25 APRIL 2022, JEDDAH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA

OPEN-ENDED EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF THE OIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AT THE LEVEL OF PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES TO DISCUSS THE ONGOING ISRAELI AGGRESSION AGAINST THE BLESSED AL-AQSA MOSQUE 25 APRIL 2022, JEDDAH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA

 

Malaysia condemned in the strongest term the harsh and disrespectful atrocities of the Israeli Occupation Forces against the Palestinians civilians and worshippers at the AlAqsa Mosque. Malaysia further categorised the systematic oppression by the Occupying Power as the crimes of apartheid and it therefore called for a renewed commitment of the international community towards a lasting solution to the IsraelPalestine conflict.

Malaysia further reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinians and their cause for achieving freedom from the illegal Israeli occupation and realizing their aspiration for an independent State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as their Capital.

The OIC Member States spoke in one clear voice in expressing their strong support to the plight of Palestinians; condemning in the strongest term the recent Israeli aggression at Al-Aqsa Mosque especially in the month of Ramadan; stressing on the need to preserve the historical and legal status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque; calling for an urgent action to put an end to the Israeli violations against the holy sites of Islam; and urging the OIC to ensure the Palestine-Israel conflict remains high on the global agenda.

Malaysia participated in the Open-Ended Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee at the level of Permanent Representative to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on 25 April 2022, in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its capacity as the Chair of OIC Islamic Summit and was attended by the Secretary-General of OIC and other OIC Member States.

The OIC adopted a final communique as an outcome of the meeting. The document among others, reiterates the centrality of the cause of Palestine for the entire Islamic Ummah; calls for effective measures and intensified coordination by the international community to address the conflict; and calls on OIC Member States and the Islamic Groups to work at the international forums in providing international protection for the Palestinian people.
