OFFICIAL VISIT OF YAB PRIME MINISTER TO THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE

The Prime Minster of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will undertake his first official visit to the Republic of Singapore on 29 November 2021. YAB Prime Minister will be accompanied by YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs; YAB Dato’ Hasni Mohammad, Chief Minister of Johor and officials from the relevant Ministries and Agencies.
The visit is at the invitation of His Excellency Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore and also in conjunction with the commencement of the air and land Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Malaysia and Singapore.
YAB Prime Minister is scheduled to call on Her Excellency Halimah Yacob, President of the Republic of Singapore and hold a meeting with his counterpart, His Excellency Lee Hsien Loong. The Leaders will discuss Malaysia-Singapore bilateral cooperation, including new opportunities for effective recovery from the impacts of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Both Prime Ministers will also be exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The visit will be conducted in full compliance with the strict health and safety protocols put in place by the Governments of Singapore and Malaysia.
SAFETY OF MALAYSIANS IN SOLOMON ISLANDS
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring latest developments in Solomon Islands, following the ongoing unrest and protest in Honiara.
The High Commission of Malaysia in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea is in close contact with Malaysians in the Solomon Islands through the Malaysian Honorary Consulate in the country. The High Commission has been in contact with 231 Malaysians in Honiara and around 950 Malaysian citizens outside of the city. They are all reported to be safe.
Malaysians requiring consular assistance in Solomon Islands are strongly urged to contact the High Commission of Malaysia in Port Moresby, or the Ministry through the following channels:

SAFETY OF MALAYSIANS IN ETHIOPIA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring latest developments in Ethiopia, following the ongoing armed conflict between the Ethiopian National Defence Force and forces of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).
According to the Embassy of Malaysia in Khartoum, The Sudan, all four Malaysians in Ethiopia, who are registered with the Embassy, are safe. The Embassy officials are in close contact with them. They have been advised to exercise heightened vigilance for their safety, and consider leaving Ethiopia through available commercial flights. Additionally, Malaysians intending to visit Ethiopia are also advised to defer their nonessential travel at this time.

NINTH MEETING OF THE MALAYSIA-SINGAPORE JOINT TECHNICAL COMMITTEE ON THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE JUDGMENT ON PEDRA BRANCA, MIDDLE
ROCKS AND SOUTH LEDGE

The Malaysia-Singapore Joint Technical Committee (MSJTC) met virtually on 23 November 2021 to continue discussions on
the implementation of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Judgment on Pedra Branca, Middle Rocks and South Ledge.
The Malaysian delegation was led by His Excellency Tan Sri Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob, Secretary-General of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia and the Singapore delegation was led by His Excellency Mr Chee Wee Kiong,
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore.
The Meeting continued discussions on related issues arising from the ICJ Judgment on the Case Concerning Sovereignty
over Pedra Branca, Middle Rocks and South Ledge. The Meeting endorsed the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Sub-
Committee on Maritime Boundary Delimitation of Pedra Branca, Middle Rocks and South Ledge. The Meeting agreed that
the Sub-Committee will continue its work in accordance with the TOR.
Malaysia and Singapore remain committed to resolving maritime boundary issues between the two countries.
The Meeting agreed that the Tenth MSJTC Meeting will be hosted by Malaysia in 2022.

PM ISMAIL SABRI YAAKOB WILL LEAD MALAYSIA'S DELEGATION TO THE VIRTUAL 13TH ASIA-EUROPE MEETING SUMMIT, 25 – 26 NOVEMBER 2021
Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will lead Malaysia's delegation to the 13th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit from 25 – 26 November 2021. The Virtual Summit is hosted by Cambodia, the current Chair of ASEM. The Summit was preceded by the ASEM Senior Officials' Meeting (ASEM SOM) held on 22 – 23 November 2021, attended by Senior Officials of Wisma Putra.
This year's theme, "Strengthening Multilateralism for Shared Growth", aligns with the current efforts undertaken by ASEM in tackling pressing global challenges through effective dialogue cooperation.
The Leaders will discuss and review the progress, developments and achievements of the ASEM Process under its three (3) main pillars, namely Political, Economic and Financial, and Socio-Cultural.
The discussion will be centred towards strengthening multilateralism on multiple dimensions, which include global peace, security and stability, financial and trading system, sustainable economic development, general health, women's empowerment, environment and climate change, and other regional and international issues.
YAB Prime Minister is expected to deliver a national statement on Inclusive and Sustainable Growth and Development. In the statement, YAB Prime Minister will speak about health diplomacy, carbon-neutral greenhouse gas emissions, vaccinated travel lane, vaccine’s research and development collaboration, and ASEM Connectivity, among other issues.
ASEM comprises 21 Asian countries, 28 EU countries, two European countries, the ASEAN Secretariat and the European Commission. ASEM is an intergovernmental process established on 1 March 1996 to foster dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe. Malaysia joined ASEM in 1996 and has since actively participated in all ASEM initiatives that benefit both regions.
