AMERIKA SYARIKAT MENGHARGAI USAHA PASUKAN MALAYSIA DI SUDAN

 

Saya telah menerima panggilan telefon daripada Tuan Yang Terutama Antony Blinken, Setiausaha Negara Amerika Syarikat pada Isnin, 01 Mei 2023. Ia merupakan panggilan telefon kali pertama antara saya dan Setiausaha Negara Amerika Syarikat sejak Disember 2022.

Setiausaha Negara Amerika Syarikat secara khusus telah merakamkan penghargaan kepada Kerajaan Malaysia atas bantuan membawa keluar dua orang warga Amerika Syarikat semasa proses evakuasi rakyat Malaysia dari Sudan.

Usaha yang dilakukan oleh pihak wakil Malaysia yang diketuai oleh Wisma Putra jelas membuktikan bahawa bantuan yang diberikan tanpa mengira warganegara sehingga sanggup berhadapan dengan risiko yang tinggi sangat-sangat dihargai.

Saya dan Setiausaha Negara Amerika Syarikat seterusnya telah bertukar-tukar pandangan mengenai kerjasama dua hala seperti peluang kerjasama perdagangan dan pelaburan, pertukaran lawatan, ekonomi digital, dan perubahan iklim. Kami juga turut membincangkan isu serantau dan antarabangsa yang berkepentingan bersama.

Kedua-dua pihak sepakat untuk terus melaksanakan usaha-usaha memperkukuhkan Perkongsian Komprehensif Malaysia-Amerika Syarikat. Semoga hubungan antara Malaysia-Amerika Syarikat dapat terus kekal dan mencapai tahap yang lebih tinggi dalam konteks dua negara dalam pelbagai bidang.
