MEETING BETWEEN THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MALAYSIA, YB DATO’ SERI DIRAJA DR. ZAMBRY ABD. KADIR AND THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, AND GAMBIANS ABROAD OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE GAMBIA, HIS EXCELLENCY DR. MAMADOU TANGARA

MEETING BETWEEN THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MALAYSIA, YB DATO’ SERI DIRAJA DR. ZAMBRY ABD. KADIR AND THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, AND GAMBIANS ABROAD OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE GAMBIA, HIS EXCELLENCY DR. MAMADOU TANGARA

 

On 27 January 2023, I received the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Dr. Mamadou Tangara.

During the meeting, we exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.

Minister Tangara highlighted the 15th Islamic Summit Conference, which The Gambia will host in 2023, and looked forward to Malaysia’s active participation at the Summit.

I also took the opportunity to seek support from The Gambia on Malaysia’s candidature of Dr. Ahmad El-Muhammady bin Muhammad Uthman El-Muhammady for the post of Assistant-Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in the elections that will take place during the 49th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting on 16 - 17 March 2023 in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

We reaffirmed our commitment to strengthen our bilateral cooperation as well as multilateral cooperation, in particular through the OIC.
