Your Majesty, Excellencies,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

1.   On behalf of the Leaders of ASEAN and Timor Leste, I welcome His Excellency the President and AIPA Representatives to this year’s Interface.

2.   The opportunity to reflect on the theme “Parliament at the Forefront for Inclusive Growth and a Sustainable ASEAN”, could not be timelier.

3.   As ASEAN progresses into the next chapter of our Community Building, AIPA will be an instrumental partner to:

     3.1.    facilitate the realisation of the people’s aspirations;
     3.2.    drive progress across the three key pillars; and
     3.3.    enhance ASEAN’s preparedness and resilience.

4.   I encourage AIPA’s continued commitment on food security, climate change, digital transformation, and inclusive economic development, among others.

5.   At the same time, the voice of our people, expressed through their elected representatives, must be accounted in every decision that shapes our region.
